Experienced Trainer Position Description
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Term: Appointed by the volunteer coordinator for term of one year. Appointment for each additional year will be made based on an annual performance review conducted by the volunteer coordinator or an appointed master trainer.
Basic Requirements:
- Is a registered member of GSUSA
- Has successfully completed a term of appointment as an apprentice trainer or has demonstrated competence in planning, designing, delivering, and evaluating training for adults.
- Has taken at least one additional training course in a specialized skill area or trainer competency area.
- Has completed an application and interview.
Accountabilities:
- Meets all the basic requirements to be appointed as an experienced trainer.
- Conducts at least three (3) workshops a year and/or serves on an adult education committee or task force.
- Follows all GSUSA/Council polices, safety standards, and procedures.
- Completes and submits to the volunteer coordinator all required paper work (sign in sheets, participant’s evaluation, trainer’s evaluation etc.) within two (2) weeks following each workshop
- Utilizes the approved course content outlines of the council adult education program where provide.
- Remains current on content and methods through attendance at updating conferences, and trainer’s meetings and through individual efforts. (workshops, research, etc.)
- Cooperates with the volunteer coordinator in planning the service center adult education calendar(s).
Criteria for Advancement to Master Trainer
- The candidate meets all the basic criteria.
- The candidate has successfully completed a term of appointment as an experienced trainer.
- The person has taken additional training in a specialized skill area or trainer competency area.
- She or he has served on a training committee or a task group designing training curriculum.
- After appointment as a master trainer, the individual conducts an agreed-upon number of courses.
- The candidate takes a leadership role in the council training functions. Such roles could include, but are not limited to:
- assisting in train-the-trainer courses under the direction of a GSUSA certified instructor-of-trainer or effectively facilitating adult learning course
- coordinating training events with a volunteer coordinator or training development coordinator
- acting as mentor to apprentice trainers.
- The candidate completes and returns to the volunteer coordinator a trainer advancement Application.
